Side Effects:
Fine tremor of skeletal muscle (esp in the hands), leg cramps; palpitations, tachycardia, hypotension, peripheral vasodilatation; headache, dizziness & tenseness. Mouth & throat irritation.
Dosage:
Adult & children = 1-2 inhalations 4 hrly or as necessary to a max of 8 inhalations/day. Elderly = Dosage should be lower than for young adult, but may be increased to the usual adult level as necessary.

Indications:

Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, tachyarrhythmias. Hypersensitivity to atropine-like substances or soya lecithin or related food products (for MDI only).
Side Effects:
Fine tremor of skeletal muscles, nervousness, restlessness, palpitations; less frequently tachycardia, dizziness or headache. Dry mouth, throat irritation or allergic reactions, cough, paradoxical bronchoconstriction (rare). Urinary retention may occur in particular, in patients w/ preexisting outflow tract obstruction.

Nebulizing soln
In exacerbations of asthma or acute asthmatic attacks, the initial treatment is 1 dose (2 mL) every 20 min for 1hr. Subsequently, hrly administration may be continued to increase rapidity of bronchodilation. Maintenance dose may be given tid-qid (1-2 mL diluted w/ 1-2 mL normal saline).

Adult & childn above12 yr = 2 tab. For long-term treatment, dose may be reduced to 1 tab.

Indications:
Resp disorders complicated by bronchospasm & excessive secretion of tenacious mucus, bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis & emphysema.
Contraindications:
Pregnant patients with vaginal bleeding because it may cause pulmonary edema.
Side Effects:
Fine tremor, palpitation, tachycardia, nervous tension, headache, peripheral vasodilation, GI discomfort, nausea & vomiting.
Dosage:
Adult = 2-4 tsp bid-tid. Childn 6-12 yr = 2 tsp 2-6 yr = 1 tsp. To be taken tid-qid.

Indications:
Treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial rhinitis, urticaria, allergic dermatologic disorders, angioedema & conjunctivitis.
Contraindications:
Loratadine is contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to the drug. Premature infants or neonates: This group of patients has an increased susceptibility to antimuscarinic effects.
Side Effects:
Loratadine is generally well tolerated at therapeutic doses in adults, elderly patients and children. Commonly reported events are somnolence, fatigue and headache, while dry mouth and gut upset occur less frequently.
Other adverse effects that have been reported rarely with loratadine include hypotension, tinnitus, headache and paraesthesias.
Dosage:
Adult & childnabove > 30 kg = 10 mg once daily. Childn 2-12 yr above <30 kg = 5 mg once daily.
